Poinsettia Variations 2, originally uploaded by brockney52.
I took several photos of a poinsettia plant yesterday indoors. I used the pop-up flash on my camera and Professor Kobe’s lightscoop. And I was very pleased with the results.
The lightscoop is an ingenious and inexpensive gizmo that fits into the camera’s hotshoe. It contains a mirror that bounces the light from the flash off the ceiling so you get nice even light on the subject without that ugly flash glare. And without an expensive external flash. It’s great for indoor portraits and still life photos, too.
The lightscoop comes with specific instructions for Nikon and Canon Cameras. You get the best results if you use the suggested camera settings.

Christmas Cheer Crystal Clear Clever Child!
Wow, love the second one! Beautiful colors.
I love the bottom one especially. I’ll have to check out the gizmo.
Just beautiful….I am always intrigued by the middle of the pointsettia – it always looks alive and HUNGRY!
Pointsettias totally creep me out…but I do like the velvety texture of the leaves/petals (aren’t they called brachts or something like that?) in the bottom photo and the almost abstract quality of the shot.
Lovely!
